Can you solve the circumference of the earth by using two meter sticks? In less than an hour? In “Beat the Greeks LIVE,” students were asked to determine the circumference of the earth - just like the Greeks did - by using shadow measurements from two locations on the earth's surface. And they did it on live TV. Where did we get our shadows? Ecuador and Florida. The students used this data and the distance between the two points to figure out the circumference of the earth! With seconds left in the broadcast, they figured it out!
