ORANGE COUNTY’S ONLY PBS STATION CELEBRATES ONE-YEAR ANNIVERSARY UNDER THE OWNERSHIP OF KOCE-TV FOUNDATION
HUNTINGTON BEACH, CALIF. (November 4, 2005) – KOCE-TV, Orange County’s only PBS station, marks its one-year anniversary under the ownership of the KOCE-TV Foundation, an Orange County-based community foundation, on November 4, 2005.
Since the station’s change in ownership last year from the Coast Community College District to the KOCE-TV Foundation, KOCE-TV has continued to provide Southern California audiences high-quality national PBS prime time and children's programming, locally produced programs and instructional television services.
"November marks an important milestone for KOCE-TV,” said Mel Rogers, president of KOCE-TV. “Community support is at an all-time high and rising. Under the ownership of the KOCE-TV Foundation KOCE-TV has accomplished great things and intends to fulfill the mission of becoming Orange County's 'virtual downtown' – nurturing a sense of community in OC and helping us all to have a better understanding of one another and a sense of pride in our home county.”
Rogers noted that under the ownership of the KOCE-TV Foundation, the station has accomplished the following in the last 12 months:
- Digital Conversion – KOCE-TV completed its new digital and analog transmission site from Mount Wilson, geographically expanding the reach of the station's broadcast signal. KOCE-TV can now be seen by viewers in northern San Diego County as well as Los Angeles, Orange, Ventura, portions of Riverside San Bernardino and Kern Counties – the five most populous counties in California.
