INSIDE OC’ PREMIERES ON KOCE IN JULY
Rick Reiff Hosts New Feature Segment on ‘Real Orange’
Broad
in scope. Rich in content. Varied in tempo. “Inside OC,”
seeks to inform and entertain when it debuts during REAL ORANGE on
Friday, July 16. Hosted by Rick Reiff, prize-winning executive editor
of the Orange County Business Journal, “Inside OC”
feature stories will air three times weekly, on Tuesdays, Thursdays
and Fridays at 6:30 p.m.
According to Reiff, “Inside OC” will focus
on the hidden gems of Orange County; the people and places
that make news, set trends, make decisions, and shape our community.
“Inside OC” will have interviews and discussions
with experts in politics, business and academia as well as the arts,
entertainment, sports, dining and fashion. The stories will often
have an ethnic, youth-oriented, or freewheeling twist. Produced to
adapt to program length, the “Inside OC” segments will
later be edited and presented as a monthly, half-hour program on KOCE,
PBS from Orange County, debuting in September 2004.
“I’m excited to be hosting ‘Inside
OC’ for KOCE,” said Reiff. “No other community anywhere
near our size is so lacking in nightly news coverage, and REAL ORANGE
and now ‘Inside OC’ are filling that void.”
Michael Taylor, News Director for REAL ORANGE agrees.
“Rick is a well-grounded newspaper veteran, who our viewers
have come to know and respect on the REAL ORANGE political debate
series, ‘Issues & Analysis.’ We are excited about
the ideas and stories Rick will be bringing to us on a regular basis.”
Journalist David Nazar, a regular on REAL ORANGE, joins
Rick Reiff as reporter and associate producer of “Inside OC.”
Eytchison Group, run by Glen Eytchison, a noted designer and former
director of the Laguna Beach Pageant of the Masters, is designing
the branding and set for “Inside OC.”
“Inside OC” is made possible on KOCE by
grants from the University of California, Irvine; the City of Anaheim;
the law firm of Preston, Gates & Ellis LLP; and entrepreneurs
Michael Danzi and Frank Jao.
“I applaud these funders for understanding that
programs like this on KOCE are good business and the best way to target
millions of Orange County television viewers,” added Reiff.
Rick Reiff’s popular column, “OC Insider,”
appears weekly in the Orange County Business Journal. He
has won both a Pulitzer Prize and a Golden Mike. He is also a professor
of media at Chapman University, a public speaker and a media consultant.
KOCE-TV’s local signature series, REAL ORANGE
with Ed Arnold and Ann Pulice, airs weeknights at 6:30, with encore
presentations the same night at 11:00, and again at 8:00 the following
morning.
