Manager of Major and Planned Giving

Job Description:

This exempt position reports directly to the Sr. Director of Corporate & Foundation Support and is responsible for the supervision and oversight of major giving activities focused on individual donors of $1000 or more, as well as the planned giving program. The Manager of Major & Planned Giving researches, develops, and maintains relationships with major and estate donors and is a liaison to higher-level giving clubs and donor benefit events, as well as leadership volunteers serving on the Advancement Committee and Estate Planning Council.

Essential Functions:

• Establish and manage an effective, integrated, modern major gift and planned gift program,
  including responsibility for prospect research, presentation materials, budgeting and necessary
  activities to cultivate, solicit, and track individual gifts of $1000 or more, as well as gifts given
  through donor’s estates
• Achieve designated revenue goals in both areas
• Create donor benefits that transition well and are consistent with the membership
  and corporate partner programs
• Coordinate donor benefit and major giving events that help to engage, steward and update
  individual donors on KOCE-TV’s campaign giving opportunities
• Identify and implement opportunities for growth in the major and planned giving program,
  including new prospects and creative partnerships related to station programs and projects
• Insure implementation of “best practices” in the cultivation, solicitation and stewardship of all
  major and estate donors
• Coordinate the planned gift program with appropriate and qualified professional advisors
• Integrate solicitation and stewardship efforts with the station’s individual giving program,
  data base and overall fundraising functions, and when appropriate create presentation
  and/or proposal information for potential prospects
• Coordinate appropriate on and off air promotion of both programs with the station’s
  promotion and marketing staff
• Maintain knowledge of current tax treatment and other developments relevant to major and planned gifts
• Work with Individual Giving Department to identify prospects
• Other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree with a minimum 5 years experience in advancement, major gifts and/or planned gifts,
  preferably with experience in public broadcasting, arts or cultural organizations
• A proven, current, verifiable record of success in cultivation and stewardship of major and planned gift donors,
  and prospect research of individual donors
• Strong written and interpersonal skills with ability to positively represent KOCE
• Ability to work collaboratively as a team member with a other employees, managers and department heads
• Experience coordinating events
• Highly self-motivated, self-directed, goal oriented with an advanced ability to work collaboratively
  with staff, high level volunteers, professional advisors and donors
