Dino Day at Pretend City - 9/12/10
Come meet Buddy the tyrannosaurus rex from the PBS show "Dinosaur Train" at the first educational facility of it's kind in Orange County on September 12th. Join KOCE to watch the premier of a brand new "Dinosaur Train" episode and participate in fun science activities and experiments.

Orange County Children's Book Festival - 10/3/10
The 7th annual OC Book Fest on Sunday, October 3 from 9:30 am to 4:30 pm, features popular authors, illustrators, storytellers, entertainers, and reading and education-promoting exhibitors like KOCE. Come celebrate reading with KOCE and Curious George at our booth and don't forget to stop by the storyteller stage to experience a captivating story. Mission US - 10/14/10
Mission US is a new multimedia project featuring interactive games set throughout U.S. history designed to improve the understanding of American history for students in grades 5-8. Teachers can use this tool to spark students' interest and use it as a starting point for classroom instruction. KOCE will be providing teacher training and dinner on October 14 at Orange County Department of Education. Check back for sign up information.

PBS KIDS GO! Writer’s Contest and Celebration - Spring 2011
KOCE-TV has selected 12 local winners of the PBS KIDS GO! Writers Contest. The contest encourages children grades K-3 in communities across the country to celebrate the power of writing and illustrating by submitting their own original storybooks. The winners were chosen from over 250 local entrants by a panel of local judges. Winners will be invited to attend the Awards Celebration at Discovery Science Center. Check out koce.org/writers for more information on the contest and to see the local winners.

Young Authors' Faire Reception - May 2011
The Orange County Department of Education (OCDE) invites your school to participate in the Young Authors' Faire. The Young Authors' Faire is an annual event that showcases original student writing in Orange County. It is a celebration, not a competition. Ten entries may be submitted from each school. These entries will be on display at OCDE. Learn more about the Young Authors Faire at yaf.ocde.us/Home.htm.

California Student Media Festival - 6/4/11
Now in its 45th year, the California Student Media Festival is our nation’s oldest student media festival.  The festival exists to celebrate the amazing media and multimedia projects produced by California’s best and brightest students and teachers — rewarding and acknowledging their successful classroom work at an awards event at the Huntington Beach Library and Cultural Center. Discovery Education 3M Young Scientist Challenge - May 2011
The search for America’s Top Young Scientist is officially underway with the launch of the Discovery Education 3M Young Scientist Challenge, and KOCE has joined the search to make sure California’s top young scientists are well represented in the nation’s premier science competition for students in grades 5 through 8. The winner will receive $50,000 in U.S. Savings Bonds ($25,000 cash value), a tour of 3M’s celebrated Innovation Center in St. Paul, Minnesota given by some of today’s top scientists, and the title of “America’s Top Young Scientist.” For more information on the Discovery Education 3M Young Scientist Challenge, including submission guidelines, teacher resources, and examples of entry videos, go to youngscientistchallenge.com.
