Mission US

KOCE Classroom is excited to partner with WNET Thirteen
to bring Mission US to Southern California schools.

register for Mission US

Mission US is an exciting multimedia project designed to improve the understanding of American History for 5th through 8th grade students.

The free classroom program features interactive adventure games set throughout U.S. history and relevant teacher materials that will help spark student interest and support the use of the program in the classroom.

In the Classroom
Mission US meets National Education Standards and helps students achieve learning goals such as developing historical thinking skills and critical perception.

Mission US supports teachers with integration of the game
into their curriculum through:

  • Models of instruction
  • Lesson plans
  • Target concepts
  • Key vocabulary
  • Game tips

Mission 1 with More on the Way
The first game, Mission 1: "For Crown or Colony?" puts players in the shoes of Nat Wheeler, a 14-year-old printer's apprentice in 1770 Boston. As players complete tasks throughout the city, they meet everyone from merchants to soldiers, sailors to poets, Patriots to Loyalists. The game reveals rising tensions threatening to come to a head and ultimately, players must choose where their loyalties lie.

Local Trainings

Thursday, October 14th, 2010
