12th Annual Nationwide Asthma Screening Program. The American College of Allergy, Asthma and Immunology is holding the 12th Annual Nationwide Asthma Screening Program, and will be conduction free asthma screenings in three Orange County Locations:
May 10 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at The Shops at Mission Viejo, 555 The Shops at Mission Viejo, Mission Viejo, May 17 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Costa Mesa Health and Wellness Fair, BESST Center, 2045 Meyer Place, Costa Mesa,
and May 17 from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. at Albertsons, 16061 Brookhurst St., Fountain Valley. Adults take a 20-question Life Quality (LQ) Test, and children the Kids’ Asthma Check. Participants also take a lung function test and meet with allergists. Disaster Planning for Older Adults and Persons with Disabilities. On May 14 and 16, 2008 the Orange County Collaborative to End Abuse of Individuals with Disabilities (CEAID) will be sponsoring Disaster Planning for Older Adults and Persons with Disabilities half-day workshops to the public (persons with disabilities, caregivers, family members and agency staff). The workshop will feature Ana Marie Jones of CARD (Collaborating Agencies Responding to Disaster). Ms. Jones is a nationally-recognized speaker who provides participants with practical illustrations on ways to keep prepared a personal disaster plan. The Disaster Planning for Older Adults and Persons with Disabilities Workshops will be held at two locations. The Wednesday, May 14, workshops will be held at the Norman P. Murray Community Center, 24932 Veterans Way, Mission Viejo and the Friday, May 16, workshops will be held at the Anaheim Downtown Community Center, 250 East Center Street, Anaheim. Attendees may choose to attend either a morning (9:00 a.m. - noon) or afternoon (1:00 p.m. - 4:00 p.m.) session. Spanish, Vietnamese, and ASL interpretation services will be available upon request.
